Recipe: A Twist on Eton Mess

*Warning- extremely sweet*

Like anyone going through exams at the moment, you naturally find ways to avoid the work you really ought to be doing. My answer- making Eton Mess but with a twist! I'd been craving strawberries quite a bit recently so finally caved and bought some from a nearby greengrocer and this is what I came up with. The ingredients are strawberries, meringue, light condensed milk and desiccated coconut. In the extra big one I made for James, I also put in a bit of strawberry jam at the bottom. It's so good but so incredibly sweet so for a healthier alternative, use Greek yoghurt instead of the condensed milk- less calories and lessens the sweetness a little. It really hit the spot and I thought I would share it with you guys. The great thing about Eton Mess style desserts is that you can change around the ingredients to be as healthy or as indulgent as you like.

Hope you guys like!
What would be your combination?

Outfit Of The Day- The Habanera Jacket

Jacket- ASOS
Top- H&M
Jeans- BDG

Isn't it so nice to see blue skies! I feel like the UK has been stuck in a rut weather wise at the moment so, after finishing a shift at work, me and James headed out for a walk in the sunshine as we usually do when the weather allows it. This jacket was bought at the same time as the orange pencil skirt in my previous OOTD, I just haven't had a chance to wear or photo it. But isn't it pretty! I fell in love with the pattern as soon as I saw it and was umming and ahhing about it for a while because I would typically avoid this sort of boxy cut but I couldn't resist the brighton colour and geometric pattern.

In other news, I have just one more exam to go and then I am done with second year! Mixed feelings about the other two but I'm glad to just have it over and done with. The 2nd year of language degree very much feels like a limbo year- it's nothing new like first year freshers and we're stuck waiting for the third year abroad. But it's all come around very quickly and I'm looking forward to my summer plans including redoing my room and the big exciting news, an amazing holiday. Me and James have been hoping to find a good late deal holiday, seeing as Barcelona was such a disaster. And we found one for an amazing bargain! A week in Taba, Egypt, just up from Sharm El Sheik in 5 star hotel, all inclusive. I'm over the moon as the hotel looks amazing, there's a coral reef nearby and, because it's so close to the border with Israel, we're going to hope over to Jerusalem and visit Petra. Excited does not even cover it.
I  might do a holiday haul cuz there a few bits and bobs I want to get including a maxi skirt for any situations I need to cover up in and a backpack so I can carry everything around, including my camera, without aching my shoulders.

Anyway, I hope that explains my somewhat absence
I hope you guys are well and good luck with an exams if you have any!

Benefit Sunbeam Highlighter

If you follow me on Twitter, you might have seen me tweet lusting over Benefit Sunbeam. Every time I see it, I just think it looks like the perfect golden highlighter and even more perfect for summer. So, in the middle of exam season induced shopping trip, I bit the bullet and picked it up in the nearest Boots. The result was a lovely little bottle of pearlescent gold highlighter. The little instructions booklet that comes with it recommends it being used on the cheekbones and under the eyebrows, but it could be used on any feature that naturally catches the light. It's actually quite sheer and I was surprised it wasn't as noticeable as I thought it would be. Having said that, I didn't want it to look like I dumped my face in a pot of gold glitter. I also have Girl Meets Pearl from Benefit and they are quite similar but GMP is pinky toned which might be better suited to fairer skin rather than the gold in Sunbeam that would work with olive and darker skin tones.
You can blend it out with fingers but I found it worked really well with my Real Techniques Stipling brush. I also like to blend it either with my foundation or my moisturiser if I'm going for a no make up sort of look. Make me look a bit more alive. You can see it applied on my cheekbones in the last picture and it really is a nice subtle glow- after all, it is a highlighter and not a bronzer, however I do think the two would work well together for a nice bronzed summer look- if we ever get a summer...!

Benefit Sunbeam retails at £19.50 and is avaliable in most Boots and Debenhams.
What do guys think of Benefit highlighters?
Hope you're having a good weekend!

Boux Avenue- DD+ Swimwear

boux avenue lanzarote bikini

Yep, it's that time of year again where we've had a brief taster of the sun and have been sent scrambling for our bikinis. Which is great if you're under a DD cup. If you're over however, it begins the nightmareish process of finding a fashionable bikini that supports you properly and doesn't cost an absolute fortune.
Enter Boux Avenue, one of the few places that do larger cup sizes but at a high street price. I have already a tankini from them that I simply use as a swimming costume but I really wanted something that I could laze around in in the sunshine and work on my tan.

The bikini feature above is the Lanzarote bikini and, as you can see, it is a bright neon green. Which will look fabulous with a tan- so if you're olive skinned like me, try neons! Both the bra and the briefs fit like a dream, and, judging by how well my tankini has lasted, it will last a while as well! I also bought a white one as well but I didn't like the style or fit of it so much. My boyfriend also pointed out that it would get dirty easily.... not so glamorous as I had first thought.
I also have to mention the super speedy delivery! I qualified for free delivery, ordering on a Sunday and it was with my by mid-day Tuesday. I'm used to waiting a good 4 days or so for any online shopping so to have something come so quickly was so good! They also threw in a free bottle of shimmery body wash- you can just about see it in the photo above. It smells really nice so all in all, that was a really nice surprise.

So, if you are of the larger chest, I highly recommend you check out Boux Avenue if you're racking your brains trying to find a bikini that isn't designed for the over 60's... Most styles are stocked up to a G cup and they tick all the boxes for me!

I hope this review was useful!

25 Facts About Me

I'm in a bit of a blogging funk at the moment- I haven't really been shopping much- either clothes or beauty- and it's getting to that point in uni that deadlines and revision have actually taken over my life a little and that's about all I have time for at the moment. So, I though I would do 25 facts about me. the 50 facts tag was floating around blogger a while ago but I don't think I could come up for 50 interesting enough facts so 25 it is!

1. I HATE baked beans. Just NO. Get them away from me. I can be around them but something about them just makes my stomach churn, particularly the smell.

2. I have a big long scar on my left leg. You might be able to see it on some OOTD's if I have my legs out. Unfortunately, there's not an interesting story behind it- I just fell off a wall when I was about 6

3. I'm incredibly impatient. Especially when it comes to food. If I go out for dinner and it doesn't come within 10 minutes, I start getting antsy.

4. I'm also incredibly scatter brained. I have a tendency to put things (keys!) down and then completely forget where I put them. I think I've spent half my life looking for things I think I've lost.

5. I apparently have really weird ways of eating certain things. I always eat my sandwiches in a particular way, apples as well, and I always cut meat (like steak) into squares.

6. I'm rubbish at public speaking. Seminar presentations are my worst nightmare, especially if they're in Spanish and Portuguese. I tend to stumble over my words and then it looks like I have no idea what I'm saying

7. I've never broken a bone (touch wood)

8. I have a younger sister and we are complete opposites of each other.

9. I hate living in the UK, mainly because of the weather. I would totally sum up living in the UK as grey. Grey grey grey. And cold for 8 months of the year and mild and humid for the other 4.

10. I plan to travel South America after I finish my degree. It's always been on my to-do list and I want to do it before I get stuck into a job with no way out. At this point, I'll be two years 'behind' everyone my age but it'll be worth it.

11. I do bellydance at my university and I absolutely love it.

12. I am a road rage driver. Where I live, there are a lot of old people who drive around at like 20mph and it drives me nuts. Unfortunately, I've just scrapped my car so I'll probably be a rage cyclist instead now.

13. I can hold my drink quite well and am definately not a lightweight. But I absolutely hate beer.

14. I almost drowned when I was younger and consequently, didn't learn to swim very well as I was terrifed of being in water. Like I wouldn't jump into the shallow ends of the baby pool.

15. I LOVE New Girl. I want Nick Miller and his grumpy turtle face. It comes out in America on Tuesday evenings and it's first thing I do on a Wednesday morning.

16. Sleep is really important to me. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a lazy student, it's actually really linked in with me immune system. If I don't get enough sleep over a couple of days, I get ill straight away. And if I have a bad nights sleep, when I wake up in the morning, I have a sneezing fit. That my warning sign I'm gonna get ill

17.  I tend to avoid conflict and don't hold grudges. Ain't nobody got time for that.

18. When I was younger, I used to write a lot of stories. I still have about 10 notebooks full of my creations. The best one I ever did was around 45000 words and I actually started rewriting it a while ago. I'll give it another shot in the summer.

19. I'm really blunt and will say the things that everyone is thinking but no one would say. I don't do it to be crass but that's just me but more often than not, it actually makes the situation funnier.

20. I'm beginning to suspect I'm lactose intolerant and anything with caffeine in doesn't sit too well with me either.

21. I had braces for two years and was on the verge of having to have my jaw broken and reset due to an underbite. Instead, I just had a few teeth taken out and moved around. Not many people notice it but I'm missing on either side the teeth that got between the front teeth and canine teeth on the upper jaw.

22. I stretched my ears and had plugs for a while when I was in my teens. I took them out because I missed wearing earring. Ironically, now I never wear earrings and am considering stretching them again.

23. I hate flying. Not because of heights or fear of crashing but because I have really bad issues with my ears popping and nearly always end up with vertigo or terrible earache or being deaf....

24. I've been wearing glasses, probably for over 10 years now but I actually prefer them to contacts. I feel all exposed and naked without them.

25. I am always cold. Even in summer (at least in England I am) Hands and feet are the worst and they are my chosen weapon of torture again the boyfriend :P

So there you go. 25 random as facts about me.
Do we have anything in common? Let me know!
